Dagny Johnson is a beautiful tropical hardwood hammock that almost became another victim of condo development. Fortunately for everyone but the developers, it didn't. It's the home of 84 protected species of animals and plants including the American Crocodile, Mahogany Mistletoe, and Wild Cotton. Dagny Johnson offers over six miles of trails to explore. John Pennekamp State Park is perfect for families, couples, or singles looking for relaxation. Check out the original "African Queen" used in the classic movie with Humprey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn. It's located in Key Largo at MM 100 Ocean Side. You can find the boat next to the Holiday Inn. The "African Queen" was used as a passenger shuttle from 1912 to 1968. She shuttled passengers across Lake Albert from the Congo to Uganda. Jacobs Aquatic Center hosts 3 swimming pools. you'll find a 25-meter 8-lane MYRTHA competition pool with a contiguous diving pool and 2 diving boards. The diving pool is 12' deep so it's also suitable for SCUBA certification. A ramp accessible multipurpose MYRTHA pool.
