Florida Keys scuba diving adventures!
Diving the Florida Keys is a must do adventure for anyone who loves to scuba dive or has scuba diving on their bucket list!
Florida Keys dive sites offer wrecks, walls, and reefs. The “Keys” are home to the only living barrier reef in the continental United States.
This reef system is famous for it’s abundance of beautiful reef fish, assorted marine life and various coral formations.
The system runs approximately 200 miles southwest from Biscayne National Park north of Key Largo to the Dry Tortugas National Park off of Key West. The coral reef lies from 5 to 7 miles offshore and runs the length of the island chain.
Diving opportunities abound in the Florida Keys. From Biscayne NP to the Dry Tortugas, there is a diving adventure for everyone!
I believe Tec Clark nailed it…
“SCUBA diving is sensual. To breathe underwater is one of the most fascinating and peculiar sensations imaginable. Breathing becomes a rhythmic melody of inhalations and exhalations. The cracks and pops of fish and crustaceans harmonize with the rhythmic chiming of the bubbles as you exhale. Soon, lungs act as bellows, controlling your buoyancy as you achieve weightlessness. And, as in your dreams, you are flying. Combine these otherworldly stimuli and you surrender completely to the sanctuary of the underwater world.” – TEC CLARK, forward, Karen Berger’s Scuba Diving
First time diving the “Keys”?
The best way to explore any Florida Keys dive site is to charter a dive boat. Novice or expert, charter boats are an excellent way to go.
For beginners, you are diving with the pros. Charter boats are piloted by Coast Guard certified boat captains and the crew always consists of a divemaster. In short, you ‘re in good hands! But, as always, do your homework. Find a good fit for your expectations.
For the more seasoned divers, chartering a dive boat gives you the same benefits plus, the boat crew handles the heavy lifting while you just enjoy your dive! In and out, Easy Peasy!
The local dive shops and charters companies utilize professional staffs, provide friendly service, and are extremely knowledgeable about the local dive sites and current conditions each day.
Packaged dives are always available, so find a company that will tailor a package to your specific needs!
If you are looking for diving instruction, or want to certify, ask your dive operator about any specials they are offering or contact one of the Florida Keys dive resorts. Most shop owners and dive resorts will offer scuba diving lessons a la carte.
Between the reefs, the wrecks, and the sea life, Florida Keys diving possibilities are endless. It’s what makes Florida Keys scuba diving so wonderful!
