A Little Bit About Us

About Us and Our Journey to the “Florida Keys!”

It all started with a couple of short Florida Keys vacations...

Hi there! We're Julia and Jim Champion. Born and raised in southeast Idaho, we used to spend our spare time river rafting, fly fishing, skiing, and backpacking the Snake River Range of the Rockies.

Over the years we have come to realize, where ever we are, beauty abounds!

Before our adventures in Florida began, we explored southern Utah and Arizona on a regular basis. Talk about some abounding beauty!

Peek over the canyon rim, you'll find a rocky stream hundreds of feet below. Explore those cracks in the canyon wall and you'll find "Native Indian" petro-glyphs, pictographs, and rock art! Watch the sunset in "Arches" and you'll never be the same.

We've been lucky in finding beautiful country everywhere we've traveled, and the "Florida Keys" are certainly no exception!

Why We Came to South Florida!
(the short version)

Amber (our daughter), decided she wanted to study marine biology when she went to college. She made this decision while she was a freshman in high school. We thought she would change her mind at least a dozen times by her senior year. Well, she didn't and four years later she was studying marine biology at the U of M!

After a December visit to see Amber in Miami, we quickly learned that there really isn’t a “winter” in south Florida. A normal winter day in the "Keys" is kind of like a regular summer day in Idaho!

We moved south the following year! That was over 12 years ago.

Now we spend our spare time exploring the everglades, photographing the islands, diving, catching sunsets, and building our website!

There you have it, all about us in a nutshell!

Thank you once again for your support, your many visits, and all of your comments.

Enjoy the Florida Keys diving and keep on traveling!
